Washington: The US State Department has approved a proposed sale of 500 Patriot PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptors to Ukraine in a deal estimated at $2.1 billion, aimed at strengthening Kyiv’s air defence capabilities against Russian attacks.
The package also includes spare parts, technical assistance and maintenance services. The State Department said it had notified Congress of the proposed Foreign Military Sale.

Canada, Germany and Norway are expected to fund the procurement, with no US government funds being used for the purchase, according to the department.
The Patriot PAC-3 MSE interceptors are designed to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to counter aerial and missile threats. The State Department said the proposed sale would not adversely affect US defence readiness.
