Sanaa: Fighting between Yemen’s government forces and Houthi rebels has intensified, with both sides reporting heavy attacks and casualties.
Government forces spokesperson Majid al-Nujaili said troops carried out 749 strikes on Houthi command centres, defensive positions, vehicles and supply routes over 24 hours. He claimed 239 Houthi fighters were killed and 117 military vehicles and equipment were damaged. These figures have not been independently verified.
The Houthis, meanwhile, accused Saudi Arabia of conducting 101 air and missile strikes across eight Yemeni provinces, including Sanaa, alleging that women and children were among those killed or injured.
Separately, an explosion near Aden airport triggered panic, with reports that passengers, including patients, evacuated following a Houthi ultimatum demanding the airport be cleared. The Houthis also alleged that a Saudi military cargo plane was transporting weapons.
